· The purpose of the book, The Pingree Legacy, was to present this collective memory of Job Pingree's life. Numerous family members have contributed their bits of recall to this collective memory and shared photographs and documents to illustrate it. They have given time and money so that the story could be published for all family members to enjoy.

· Job Pingree, left fatherless at age six, lived to become city councilman, bank president, LDS mission president, and other positions of stature. As his life drew to a close he reflected. "I owe all my success to the Lord, who certainly has blessed me. My advice to young folks is to not think only of play, for time and age come on; so prepare now, for no one can tell what tomorrow will bring."
"The Pingree Legacy", a book published in 1983, is mainly the story of Job Pingree, But, it also includes the life stories of his wives and their children. Job Pingree's influence permeates each generation of his descendants. The Pingree Legacy comes from anecdotes and bits of wisdom passed from older family members who knew Job to younger descendants who have met him only through these memories
